On 19th November, Leigh Youth Hub held their first Duke of Edinburgh awards ceremony.
The evening recognised the achievements of 22 local Young People who completed their Bronze DofE award.
The sectional awards were presented by the Leigh Youth Hub team and Madam Mayor and consort completed the formal ceremony by presenting the Young Peoples Bronze award certificate and Badge.
Over the past 12 months, the Young People have worked extremely hard. Not only did they complete their expedition to Bispham Hall, learn new life skills but they gave their time by volunteering at local churches, community groups, football clubs and more. (It’s safe to say, Leigh will never be short of future football coaches).
The young people have shown that persistence and team work pays off.
Karen Campbell, the Duke of Edinburgh Leader for Leigh youth hub said ‘Duke of Edinburgh is an amazing scheme where we get to see Young People grow, challenge themselves and discover new adventures’
This event was a significant milestone for Leigh Youth Hub and has now begun their second cohort of Young People for DofE Bronze.
The Leigh Youth Hub team are extremely proud of all our Young People and hope to see you moving forward and completing your Silver.
